Loser Defined

In kids team’s 6th game today they had their 5th loss and it was all club president’s fault.

The team leaded 2-0 against Vefa (arguably the best team in the group) and everybody was watching in shock and disbelief because our team played a much much better football. They dominated the opposition for 20 minutes. It was the 20th minute that saw #6 of Vefa run half the field with the ball and score a goal on a one-on-one to make it 2-1. Same position and same scenario 4 minutes later; 2-2.

With 2-2 at the halfway point, our team was really tired and in shock cause they were really good, except in 2 situations.

Then came the second half and Vefa made it 3-2, it was really game on now as our team’s players were really angry that they played good but were falling behind. 4-2 followed 3 minutes later. The left midfielder of our team was substitued as he was tired and then when the new player settled in, we got penalty. I was sure Tarık would miss it cause he’s generally not a good penalty taker. And he did.

4-2 behind and playing well but losing penalties, that’s when the club president SUBSTITUTED all his good players to replace them with his own son and some other very physically small players. Well, some people just don’t see the face of a win.
